M/I/K/A\D/O/S is a light installation made of illuminated mikados, each 5 meters long. They fall in different ways depending on the place. Sometimes they line up into a tunnel you can walk through. Sometimes they scatter across the ground, lighting up a corner of a garden, a wall, a tree, a piece of architecture. Some hang in the air, suspended mid flight, caught between rising and falling.
Every stick carries 20 meters of LEDs, with each pixel individually controlled. The bars are animated, light travels along them, jumps between them, runs across the whole structure, so the piece is never quite the same from one moment to the next.
Each new location pulls the work in a different direction. The architecture, the ceiling height, the trees, the way people move through the space, all of it shifts the final configuration. There's a plan, and then there's whatever the place decides.
In a way, it's as if a giant somewhere up in the sky had been playing mikados and let the sticks fall. Where they land is where the piece begins.
